New talks between the Russians, Ukrainians and Americans are set to take place “in the coming weeks,” Kiev's chief negotiator announced Thursday, after “constructive” talks in Abu Dhabi that led to a new prisoner exchange, reports AFP.
“The delegations agreed to inform their capitals and continue trilateral talks in the coming weeks,” Rustem Umerov wrote in a message posted on Telegram.
He specified that the discussions referred in particular “to the methods of implementing a ceasefire”, according to Agerpres.
In this context, AFP notes, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky pleaded for “faster results” in these “not simple” negotiations and in which, according to him, the main sticking point is the issue of territories.
The Pentagon announced on this occasion that the military dialogue with Moscow will be resumed, after “productive and constructive progress” in the talks in Abu Dhabi, which were attended by the American emissary Steve Witkoff and the son-in-law of President Donald Trump, Jared Kushner.
“Maintaining military-to-military dialogue is an important factor in world stability and peace, which can only be achieved through force, and provides a means to increase transparency and foster de-escalation,” US Forces European Command said in a statement.
