Ciprian Ciucu attacked Predoiu and Thuma in the PNL meeting after the motion that dismissed the government: “You can be prime minister if you have at least 25%. Cătălin, do you have more? Hubert?”

The Mayor of the Capital Ciprian Ciucu stated, in the meeting of the leadership of the liberals, that he is willing to support any liberal for the post of prime minister in a government with PSD, if he has a 25% confidence rating, asking them if they fulfill this condition Cătălin Predoiu and Hubert Thuma, two of the liberal leaders who spoke in favor of continuing to govern with the PSD.

“Grindeanu doesn't want to be prime minister because he has 10%. That means a safe recipe for people in the street. You can be prime minister if you have at least 25%. Those of you who have 25-30%, stand up, we vote for you to be prime minister. Cătălin, do you have more? Hubert?”, said Ciprian Ciucu during the meeting at the end of which the PNL leadership decided that the party should go into opposition.

First Vice-President Ciucu said that he is not interested in the position of Prime Minister.

“I don't want to be either president or prime minister. I want to be the mayor of the capital for many years,” said Ciprian Ciucu.

He spoke out against another government alongside the Social Democrats, whom he accused of betraying the PNL in previous deals.

“The PSD has betrayed us every time. Let's not let them go. This positioning of “let's see again” is all to give them grist for their mill (…) They betrayed Nicolae Ciucă, they promised the sea with salt, they lied, they will lie to us, they attacked the elected president. How far do we leave them?”, said Ciucu.

The mayor of Bucharest criticized the first vice-president Cătălin Predoiu who, immediately after the adoption of the motion, spoke for the continuation of the government alongside the PSD, citing the fact that the PNL has “strategic relevance for Romania”.

“A really strong PNL in two years means maintaining the strategic role of the PNL,” Ciucu retorted.

He also cited the fact that the PNL has a growing tendency in the electorate's options, after a longer period of decay.

“I don't know if you see the fabulous spontaneous support on social networks (…) Finally, we are on a wave. It seems incredible to me”, Ciprian Ciucu also said.

The PNL leadership decided, on Tuesday night, for the party to go into opposition, with the liberals passing a resolution saying PSD must take over the government.

The liberals entered the meeting today, from 5:00 p.m., shortly after the PSD-AUR censure motion was adopted, which dismissed the Bolojan Government.

After a meeting that lasted over 5 hours, Ilie Bolojan and other PNL leaders came out to make statements and announced that the party unanimously decided to enter the opposition. According to HotNews sources, the vote to enter the opposition was passed unanimously with 50 votes, but four liberals did not vote.

Behind Bolojan stood all those who participated in the meeting, except for Catalin Predoiu, who left before the press statements, Nicoleta Pauliuc, Hubert Thuma and Toma Petcu. All are opposed to entering the opposition and do not rule out the resumption of negotiations with the PSD.
