The interim president of the PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, states that he will no longer remain in the leadership of the transport portfolio in the new Government, reasoning that from a ministerial position he could not fulfill his “leader's mandate of the Social Democratic Party.
“In no case Sorin Grindeanu does not remain at the Ministry of Transport, I assure you. I do not think that in the next period the term I received from my colleagues, I mean those in the PSD, I can fully meet him and take him to the end of the minister,” Grindeanu told Romania.
After the resignation of Marcel Ciolacu, Sorin Grindeanu was voted for the interim president of the Social Democrats.
He mentioned that at the informal consultations that took place at the Cotroceni Palace, not discussed names for the future government.
“We have not discussed people at all. (…) The parliamentary elections were half a year ago, which we have won, we are the main group in the Parliament. We understand our role and understand the role and new president, that of a mediator and to try to find a formula that will lead to the parliamentary majority, but the PSD is the largest party in the Parliament, but we will not be responsible for the Parliament.
“We are waiting for the proposals from the Presidential Administration after this period of consultations will pass and then we will decide within the party on what way we take it,” he said.
