The crash of the drone on the agricultural field in Şerbăuți, in Suceava county, approximately 25 kilometers from the border with Ukraine, was reported by a local to 112.

Numerous law enforcement, police, military, including SRI specialists arrived at the scene, according to sources cited by the local press.

The drone is to be picked up and later examined to establish its provenance.

The case of Galați

The incident in Şerbăuți takes place a week after a Russian drone with an explosive charge crashed in the municipality of Galați after it deviated from its route and entered Romanian territory.

MApN then reported that it raised two British Eurofighter planes after several drones were detected near the border, in the Ukrainian town of Reni, adding that “it seems that one of the drones escaped from this swarm” and fell in Galati.

According to the authorities, “an outbuilding of a household was affected, as well as an electricity pole”, marking the first time that damage has been caused by a Russian drone that fell in Romania. There were no casualties and the explosive charge was safely detonated.
