Robert Negoiță, the first reaction after the DNA searches: “Where we managed to find solutions, we made roads”

Robert Negoiță, the mayor of Sector 3, targeted by the DNA for acts of corruption, says that he did not build any public road for his brother, but built public roads for the citizens of Sector 3.

“We made several roads on private properties”, said Robert Negoiță, in a press conference held at the Sector 3 City Hall.

Asked if it is legal, Negoiță replied: “We will see.”

“I repeat, we have had many such situations because we need roads. The relationship with PMB has not been functional so far, we have not been able to do expropriations. We have requests from citizens because there is simply a lot of traffic on the streets. Where we have been able to find solutions, we have built roads,” said Negoiță.

Asked if he built roads for his brother, a real estate developer, Negoiță said that “I never built anything for my brother with public money.”

“The legal option is to do urban planning documentation, expropriate and then build. Due to the fact that we have had the documentation blocked for 4 years at the General City Hall, we cannot do our work legally and correctly. Let's understand, we did not do a favor to those whose land we occupied with a public road. We did them a disservice, because we actually built a public road on a private property, without paying any kind of compensations”, said Robert Negoiță.

“I never built anything, with public money, for my brother. Landmark, I built public roads exclusively for the citizens of Sector 3, for all those who need roads,” added Negoiță.

The accusations against Negoiță

Robert Negoiță is targeted in a case of abuse of office, in which DNA prosecutors made several searches this morning, including at his home, judicial sources told HotNews. Among the facts of which the mayor is accused is the construction of a road for his brother, a real estate developer, about which the Recorder reported.

11 searches took place: at the Town Hall of Sector 3, at a company subordinate to it, as well as at the home of Robert Negoiță. He is suspected of abuse of office in connection with the manner in which several roads were built, including the road from his brother's residence, of which the Recorder wrote.

The DNA announced in a press release, without naming Negoiță, that the investigations are aimed at suspicions regarding the commission, in the period 2017-2025, of crimes assimilated to those of corruption related to illegal construction and asphalting works of several streets.

“The facts investigated were allegedly committed by public officials, with the support of some accomplices, and concern construction and asphalting works on several streets in Sector 3 of the Bucharest municipality, which were allegedly carried out without legal documents. During the day of February 5, 2026, based on the authorizations issued by the competent court, house searches are carried out in 11 locations located within the radius of Bucharest municipality and Ilfov county, two of which are the headquarters of institutions public, and the rest are the residences of natural persons or the headquarters/workplaces of commercial companies”, DNA transmitted.

The investigation in this case began after an investigation by the Recorder.

According to Recorder journalists, Robert Negoiță used City Hall resources to build a road on the private land owned by his brother, Ionuț Negoiță, “laying down” an asphalt carpet in the very place where he was going to build several blocks and a shopping center.

It is a road of approximately 1 kilometer, built behind Laminor Hall, which allows access to the area where Ionuț Negoiță's companies will build the HILS Republica real estate complex, not far from the metro station of the same name.
