The prosecutor's office will look into ZEN.com
On Monday, ZEN.com became famous in the context of the prosecutor's office's actions regarding this company. “The Regional Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw is carrying out verification activities aimed at verifying media information regarding ZEN.com, in order to determine whether there is a reasonable suspicion of committing a crime that may constitute the basis for initiating preparatory proceedings,” we read in a message published on the X platform.
TVN24's findings show that this includes, among others: o an article revealing that a significant segment of this company are illegal casinos in Poland. From 2020, ZEN.com is to function as a payment operator for illegal gambling platforms in our country.
ZEN.com responds to the allegations
However, the company denies the television findings. “The journalist changed his location from Poland to another (using VPN), entered a website that is not treated as gambling in this location, and then based on this he thesis that ZEN.COM enables payments to illegal casinos in Poland. The source material itself indicates that location masking tools (VPN) were used to carry out the described transactions, which means conscious impersonation of a user located outside Poland and intentional bypass of security measures. If the allegations of lack of control were justified, such a step would not be necessary. The need to use a VPN is a contrario proof – it confirms the existence and effectiveness of the control mechanisms implemented by ZEN.COM. The journalist actively and intentionally bypassed security measures and then presented the result of this action as evidence of their lack” the company writes in a statement sent to Business Insider.
In turn, at the end of last year, ZEN.com was fined EUR 1.8 million for violating regulations on the fight against money laundering derived from crimes and terrorism.
