DOCUMENT PSD – AUR motion against the Bolojan Government: Accusations of “attacking public patrimony” by listing strategic assets

“Romania is not a commodity, and state companies are not assets to be liquidated to cover political failures,” reads the text of the censure motion submitted by PSD and AUR on Tuesday.

The document, titled “STOP the Bolojan Plan to destroy the economy, impoverish the population and fraudulently sell the state's wealth!”, accuses the Executive led by Ilie Bolojan of preparing “the most extensive alienation of strategic assets in the last two decades”, under the pretext of obligations from the PNRR, without public consultation or debate in the Coalition.

Signed by 253 elected officials and submitted to Parliament on Tuesday, the motion calls for the use of an “accelerated placement” mechanism for the undervalued sale of strategic companies. The text describes the approach as a “cannon to the public heritage”, orchestrated by Prime Minister Bolojan through “the pen of Deputy Prime Minister Gheorghiu”.

The motion nominates companies such as Salrom, CEC Bank, Hidroelectrica, Aeroporturi Bucharest, Constanța Port, Romanian Post and Romgaz as profitable entities for which “the urgency of putting them up for sale” is not justified.

According to the text, the initiators claim that “listing is a useful tool for inefficient companies”, while applying it to profitable ones means “knowingly impoverishing Romania”.

In addition, the document claims that invoking the PNRR in support of this approach is not justified, as the milestone invoked can be met through restructuring, not through sale. The authors of the motion warn that the listings will not reduce the budget deficit, but will deprive the state of dividends, and accuse the Government of intending to “get rid of the defense industry as well”.
