“They're not telling us.” A former Trump ally accuses the US administration of hiding the real situation of American casualties in the war with Iran

“We don't think we know the full extent of the deaths either. And we don't think we know exactly how all these planes went down, that we're being told the whole story,” said former Fox News host Megyn Kelly, a critic of the Iran war, quoted by the US website Daily Beast.

Conservative commentator Megyn Kelly criticized Trump for speaking nonchalantly about the conflict in Iran and the White House ballroom while American soldiers were dying and suffering life-changing injuries.

The official death toll for US servicemen since the start of the war is 13, with at least 12 wounded in the March 27 Iranian attack on Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia and more than 300 wounded in total.

But Kelly, a former Fox News anchor, argued on her podcast that the American public is not being informed “about the true extent of the deaths” or how the American aircraft were lost.

She offered no evidence to support her position.

“President Trump is saying, just like with the ballroom, we're way ahead of schedule. We're talking about American soldiers dying, putting their lives on the line. It's not like it's just about the ballroom,” Kelly said.

“It's not just a fun little trip to Iran. We've already lost 13 servicemen, men and women. We had another 25 injured over the weekend when Iran hit Saudi Arabia and our factory, our base there. So we had another 25 American servicemen injured there, many of them seriously,” she added.

“What does that mean? Lost limbs, serious head injuries? They're not telling us. This information has been largely censored from the American media,” the commentator continued.

“We don't think we know the full extent of the deaths either. And we don't think we know exactly how all these planes went down, that we're being told the whole story,” she added.

The statements, quoted by the American publication Daily Beast, come amid increasing criticism of the war launched by the US and Israel in Iran, which also has economic effects on the US – and the rest of the world.

A Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted between Friday and Sunday showed 60 percent of voters disapproved of the war, while 35 percent approved.

About 66 percent of respondents said the United States should work to quickly end its involvement in the war, even if doing so would mean failing to meet the goals set by the administration.

Kelly has had a complicated relationship with Trump, whom she has openly supported on several occasions. Trump slammed her after a debate she moderated in 2015, unhappy with her questions.

Later, the conservative commentator went over this incident. In 2025, she declared that she had “fallen in love” with Trump's policies.

Recently, she has become critical of the president, especially on the subject of war.

Kelly is not unique among former loyal supporters of the MAGA movement who are now criticizing Trump over the conflict.

Far-right commentator Ann Coulter and former Republican US Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene ridiculed Fox News' bombastic reporting on the war.

Joe Rogan has also repeatedly criticized the war, accusing Trump of lying to his voters.
