Iran's president addresses Americans directly: “Iranians do not harbor enmity”

Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian stated, in an open letter to the American people, that Tehran has no enmity to ordinary Americans whom he asks to analyze the goals of the war initiated against Iran, a country that “never chose the path of aggression”, reports Iran International, citing Iranian state media.
“Iran has never in its modern history chosen the path of aggression, expansion, colonialism or domination,” Masoud Pezeshkian wrote in the letter.
He said Iranians “do not harbor enmity toward other nations, including the people of America,” adding that portraying Iran as a threat is “the product of the political and economic whims of the powerful” and that it is “not consistent with historical reality and the observable facts of today.”
“This raises a fundamental question: What are the interests of the American people being served by this war?” Pezeshkian wrote.
Iran's president claims that the United States acted in favor of Israel through the conflict with Iran because “America entered this aggression as a tool for Israel, influenced and manipulated by this regime.”
The Iranian official said attacks on infrastructure and continued military action would intensify instability and human suffering. “Continuing on the path of confrontation is more costly and futile than ever,” Pezeshkian concluded.
Tehran denies calling for a ceasefire
The release of President Pezeshkian's letter came just hours after Iran denied US President Donald Trump's claim on Wednesday that Tehran had called for a ceasefire, state television reported, citing a Foreign Ministry spokesman.
“Trump's statements regarding Iran's request for a truce are false and baseless,” said Iranian diplomatic spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei.
The reaction came after the White House leader claimed earlier on Wednesday, in a message posted on the Truth Social social network, that Iran's new leader had “just” asked the United States for a cease-fire. Trump has made it clear that he will not consider ending hostilities until after the Strait of Hormuz is reopened.
“The president of the new regime in Iran, far less radicalized and far more intelligent than his predecessors, has just called on the United States of America for a Ceasefire!” the US president wrote.
