Witnesses to the event indicate that during the initial phase of the fire, the owner grabbed the cash register and ran away. Earlier, however, she indicated that she was injured and had a “slightly burnt arm.”

Fire in Crans-Montana
On New Year's Eve, an explosion and fire occurred in one of the bars in the exclusive ski resort of Crans-Montana in the Swiss canton of Valais. The drama took place in the basement of the building, where about 200 people were celebrating the coming of the New Year. According to reports from the Swiss website Blick, the explosion and fire were caused by pyrotechnics, which ignited the ceiling.
The owners of the bar where the drama took place are Frenchmen, Jacques and Jessica Moretti. The couple bought a place called Le Constellation in 2015. The owner was also injured in the fire – she claims that she suffered burns to her arm. Her husband was not injured. He was not at the bar on that fateful night.
The Swiss prosecutor's office brought three charges against the owners of the bar, French citizens: unintentionally causing death, unintentionally causing bodily injury and unintentionally causing a fire. During the investigation, the owners went into hiding, reports Blick. The photos of the bar they published also disappeared from the Internet. However, the daily obtained several photos which indicate that during the renovation in 2015, the stairs leading from the bar in the basement to the ground floor were narrowed. In turn, the soundproof ceiling panels that caught fire first were supposed to be made of flammable material.
