The arms companies of PGZ have signed subcontracts with the South Korean company Hyundai Rotem for the production and servicing of K2 tanks in Poland. They are intended to regulate activities in the field of assembly, servicing and Polonization of K2 tanks.

On Monday, a total of four contracts were signed between Polish defense companies and Hyundai Rotem. Signed, among others: a subcontracting agreement for the production of K2PL and ARV tanks, including two supply agreements between Zakłady Mechaniczne “Bumar-Łabędy” and two state-owned companies – PCO and Wojskowe Zakłady Elektroniczne, as well as a service support agreement for the base models of K2GF tanks.
– Today's subcontract agreement is the next phase of developing the competences of the companies of the Polish Armaments Group. Our goal is not only to provide the Polish Armed Forces with modern weapons, but also to permanently strengthen the competences of the Polish defense industry and our production capabilities, said Arkadiusz Bąk, vice-president of PGZ, during the contract signing ceremony.
As we read in PGZ's entry on
This is the last of the agreements under executive agreement No. 2, which is to enable work preparing the production of K2PL tanks. The introduction of the first K2PL variant tanks into service is planned for the fourth quarter of 2028. The agreement also assumes the creation of a European center for the production and maintenance of K2 tanks in Poland through the transfer of technology, assembly, production and maintenance, repairs and overhauls of vehicles of this type.
Further phases of the contract regarding K2 tanks in Poland are planned, up to executive agreement No. 6. A total of 1,000 K2 tanks are to be delivered to the Polish army, of which over 500 of the K2PL variant are to be produced in Poland.
Under the first contract concluded in 2022, Poland purchased 180 K2-type main battle tanks. The tanks were necessary to supplement the capabilities (so-called gap filler) of the supplies that Poland made to Ukraine repelling the Russian invasion. On August 1, 2025, a second contract was signed for the supply of another 180 vehicles of this type and a total of 81 support vehicles. 64 cars are to be built in the K2PL version, including 61 of them to be produced in Poland.
