Iran has suspended natural gas supplies to Turkey after last week's Israeli attack on Iran's South Pars field, Bloomberg reported on Tuesday, citing sources familiar with the matter. The South Pars gas field is the largest known natural gas field in the world.

According to data from the Turkish Association of Natural Gas Distributors, in 2025 Türkiye purchased approximately 14 percent of the gas from Iran. gas consumed.
Ankara still imports gas from its main suppliers – Russia and Azerbaijan – and has reserves that it can use, Blommberg wrote.
It is not known how long the suspension of gas supplies from Iran will last. The Turkish Ministry of Energy declined to comment.
As the agency recalled, even in peacetime, Iran periodically suspended gas exports to Turkey, citing technical problems. Such situations typically occurred during the winter months when domestic demand in northern parts of Iran is high.
The South Pars/North Dome field is the largest known gas field in the world, shared by Iran with Qatar. It provides approximately 70 percent. natural gas consumed by Iran, which has been exploiting it since the late 1990s.
In June 2025, the deposit was attacked by Israel, which caused a massive explosion and fire in South Pars.
