Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga reacted on the social network X to the shooting in the United States, which occurred on April 25 during the White House Correspondents' Association dinner.
“We condemn the shooting that occurred during the White House Correspondents' Dinner. We are relieved that US President Donald Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance and other participants were not injured. Such violence is unjustifiable and should not take place in a democratic society,” Sibiga said.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also spoke out about the attack in Washington.
“I was relieved to learn that US President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump and everyone who attended the White House Correspondents' Dinner are safe. Violence has no place in politics, ever,” she said.
Von der Leyen thanked police and rescue workers for their “lightning-fast actions” and ensuring the safety of event guests.
