The abolition of the dedicated lane on the Nikolaevsky Bridge in Krasnoyarsk has reduced traffic jams by almost half

6 February 12:31

The temporary abolition of a dedicated lane on the Nikolaevsky Bridge has reduced the length of congestion during rush hours at the exit from the Tikhie Zori microdistrict. The mayor of Krasnoyarsk, Sergei Vereshchagin, spoke about the first results of the experiment.

“In general, experts talk about reducing the length of traffic jams during peak hours. On some days it almost more than doubled – from 1100 meters to 300-400. Accordingly, the time spent in traffic jams has also decreased,” the head of the city wrote in his Telegram channel.

At the same time, he noted that it is too early to draw final conclusions, since the road situation is affected by both the weather and the total number of cars on the road. Monitoring and collection of feedback from drivers will last until February 16.

Let us remind you that traffic jams at the exit from Tikhye Zori became an acute problem after the opening of the exit to the Nikolaevsky Bridge from Pashenny, which changed traffic flows. To find a solution, the “dedicated lane” on the bridge, which is used by only two bus routes (No. 31 and No. 64), was temporarily canceled.

Mayor Vereshchagin emphasized that this measure is not a final solution to the problem. To sustainably improve the situation in the growing neighborhood, more fundamental changes will be required, which he promised to discuss with residents during his visit to Tikha Zori.
