Newly promoted Wisla Plock were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Lech Poznan on Sunday, but more resounding than the result was what happened before the first whistle. The hosts paid tribute to a former footballer still alive, even in attendance at that game!
Major blunder in Poland, at Wisla Plock, a team that hasn't lost in the championship since September 19.
Before the duel with Lech Poznan, the photo and name of Tadeusz Swiatek appeared on the giant screen inside the stadium, to whom the audience paid tribute with a minute's silence.
This while Swiatek is alive, he even watched everything from the stands!

It was a mix-up for the hosts, who wanted to pay tribute to Tadeusz Sznajder, the club's former coach and official, who died on November 20 at the age of 87.
Wisla apologized for the awkward situation:
“The minute's silence before today's match was of course in memory of Tadeusz Sznajder, not Tadeusz Swiatek, as incorrectly stated on the chart. We sincerely apologize to anyone offended by this situation“.
“I deeply apologize to Mr. Tadeusz Swiatek for the unacceptable error on the screen during the minute of silence. I already apologized to him personally during the match. I am simply ashamed. I will investigate this matter in detail. Once again, I apologize,” added Piotr Sadczuk, president of Wisla Plock, according to sport.sk.
It happened to bigger houses too
Recently, the biggest club in the world, Real Madrid, did the same. In a video broadcast at the club's General Assembly, in an attempt to pay tribute to Diogo Jota and Andre Silva, the football brothers who died in July, the Spanish capital club used a photo of another Andre Silva, the striker currently at Elche.
“Real Madrid apologizes to Elche CF and its player, Andre da Silva, for mistakenly including his image in the obituary of an institutional video instead of that of Andre Silva, Diogo Jota's brother,” the blanco club later reacted.
