The woman, a wheelchair user of the first group, underwent surgery in July 2022. All pre-intervention tests, including an HIV test, were negative. However, already in August of the same year, specialists from the regional center for the prevention and control of AIDS informed her about the discovery of an infection.

The woman’s husband, who constantly takes care of her and is at home, took an HIV test – the result was negative. This became reason to believe that the infection occurred in the hospital.

The court of first instance agreed with the arguments and collected 500 thousand rubles from the medical institution as compensation for moral damage. The Judicial Collegium for Civil Cases of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Court confirmed this decision, pointing out the poor quality of medical services, which affected the patient’s health.

The decision came into force on February 11, 2026.
