Donald Trump harshly criticized New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani. The US President stated in an entry on his Truth social networking site that the 34-year-old politician is known for his hateful attitude towards Jews and calls himself a Jew hater.
“Every Jew who votes for Zohran Mamdani (…) is a stupid person,” he wrote.

Donald Trump has repeatedly criticized Zohran Mamdani, whom he calls a communist, and on Monday he openly supported his main rival, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, for the first time, even though Cuomo is also a Democrat.
The US president has repeatedly criticized Jews who vote for Democrats in the past, claiming that they “hate their religion” and Israel.

34-year-old Zohran Mamdani is the favorite in the election for mayor of New York. The politician was born in Uganda into a family of Indian immigrants and may become the first Muslim mayor of America's largest city. He is also a sharp critic of Israel, which he accused of genocide in the Gaza Strip, questioned the validity of Israel's existence as a Jewish state and supported the boycott of companies with ties to Israel. He also refused to condemn the slogan “globalize the intifada” (Arab uprising), which critics say may constitute a call to terrorism.
The candidacy of Zohran Mamdani, who describes himself as a democratic socialist, has divided the Jewish community in New York, the largest concentration of Jews outside Israel, writes the Washington Post. The Democratic candidate was condemned in a letter by over a thousand rabbis from all over the country, although Angela Buchdahl, head of the Central Synagogue, one of the most prominent in New York, did not join the letter. Mamdani has also gained the support of a number of Jewish leaders and politicians who point to his promise to fight anti-Semitism.
