An important set of works with museum value, including a unique drawing by Pablo Picasso and two significant works by Nicolae Grigorescu, dedicated to his emblematic theme of oxcarts, is reintroduced into the collection and exhibition circuit. The A10 by Artmark auction house announces the organization of the Auction of a part of the Darius Vâlcov Collection, which includes quite a few masterpieces, signed by artists of museum value, some of them traded and internationally recognized.

The capitalization takes place within the enforcement procedure initiated by ANAF Craiova, for the recovery of damages established by final criminal judgment. In this context, works of art with international circulation return to the free art market. It is a collection that was accumulated in about a decade, from sources that varied, over time, between domestic and international art auctions, including the famous houses Sotheby's and Christie's London or Artcurial Paris.

Pablo Picasso – Bullfight Scene (1959)

One of the highlights of the auction constitutes it a work by Pablo Picasso, “Bullfight Scene” (1959)made in ink on paper, signed, dated and dedicated “para el amigo Chaprate” (“for my friend Chaprate” – one of the artist's photographs). It is the first work by Picasso (which is not a multiple, of the type of engraving or serigraphy) ever put up for auction in Romania. The starting price is 8,000 Euros.

Victor-Brauner – In relation (1952)

The auction also includes a painting signed by Victor Braunerexponential representative of the avant-garde trend: “La relation” (from 1952). It is an oil from the artist's mature period, coming from successive collections (in Europe and the USA), with a solid exhibition and major auction CV (in France and the UK). The work, of large dimensions, as can rarely be found in museums or private collections in Romania, has a starting price of 50,000 Euros in the Artmark auction.

Nicolae-Grigorescu – Oxen cart on its way in the morning

Also in the event are two important canvases by him Nicolae Grigorescu: “Bullcart, on its way in the morning” (which starts from the price of 40,000 Euros) and “Oxen Cart at Sunset” (starting price of 50,000 Euros) – the last extremely rare, through the nocturnal treatment of his favorite theme.

In the same collection and auction, we also find two rare sketches, of international circulation, inspired by the Orphic Trilogy of Jean Cocteauone of the most influential artists of the 20th century – “The Lion Woman” and “Study for Orpheus (1956)”both with a starting price of 500 Euros.

It is welcome to specify that, according to the fiscal legislation and the special law of cultural heritage, the forced capitalization of movable cultural assets is not carried out directly by ANAF, but exclusively through a cultural operator authorized by the Ministry of Culture, in the framework of a regular commercial auction. The purchase of these works is not subject to a different legal regime than any other art auction. The public is invited to view the dedicated exhibition and participate in the auction, in the hall or online, under equal conditions of transparency and access.

Like all auctions of Casa A10 by Artmarkand this is public and can be accessed at the Cesianu-Racoviță Palace from the Capital (Str. CA Rosetti no. 5).
