“Enough with the war!”. Virulent criticism of Pope Leon against the conflicts and the politicians who maintain them

Pope Leo XIV on Saturday criticized the momentum of politicians who maintain wars and urged the whole world to embrace peace and “believe again in love, in moderation and honest politics”, reports France Presse.
In one of his most virulent criticisms of the wars engulfing the planet, especially in the Middle East, the sovereign pontiff, who is American, appealed to faith “to face together this dramatic moment in history.”
“Enough with the idolatry of self and money! Enough with the demonstrations of force! Enough with the war! True strength manifests itself in the service of life,” said Pope Leo XIV in an address at the prayer vigil for peace in the Middle East, in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, reports Agerpres quoting AFP.
Although spoken in a measured tone, these statements of the sovereign pontiff are some of his strongest criticisms to date of the wave of conflicts engulfing the planet.
“Dear brothers and sisters, there are certainly imperative responsibilities that fall to the leaders of the nations. To them we address: Stop! It's time to make peace! Sit at the table of dialogue and mediation, not at the table where rearmament is planned and where criminal actions are decided!”, Pope Leo urged.
As he did in other speeches in the past, he did not name a specific politician or country in a precise way.
