A 17-year-old resident of the Krasnoyarsk village of Berezovka became a victim of telephone scammers and deprived her family of savings in the amount of just over one million rubles.
The mother of the minor reported the crime to the police. She herself said that an unknown man called her, introduced himself as a delivery service worker and said that she had received a package. To receive it, a code was sent to the girl’s phone, which she told the attacker.
“Then false employees of the Ministry of Digital Technologies contacted her and said that they were trying to hack her and that she needed to change the password from State Services to a specific one, and to catch the hackers, install a special application. Then “employees” of law enforcement agencies got involved, began to threaten criminal liability and demanded that the house be searched. The next day, the minor, left alone at home, complied with the scammers’ demands and discovered the savings. After that, under pressure from the attackers, she transferred through an ATM the cash found at home in the amount of 900,000 rubles, accumulated by her mother, and her personal 120,000 rubles,” said the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Based on this fact, a criminal case was opened under Part 3 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Fraud committed on a large scale”, the police continue to clarify all the circumstances.
