Vasile (Sile) Pușcaș, who is nicknamed the “King of the Garbage of Transylvania”, was among the supporters of George Simion, at the Euronews debate on May 8, writes the investigation site Snoopwhich presents his business with the state.

Vasile Pușcaș is a real estate developer and businessman Horeca in Cluj-Napoca, owner of some sanitation companies in the Ardealului area (Satu Mare and Baia Mare). He was married to the daughter of the influence of Ioan Rus, former Minister of Interior and Transport from the PSD, a member of the Informal Grup from Cluj.

One of the companies is Drusal SA, a company that deals with sanitation in Baia Mare, Baia Sprie and other localities in Maramureș county. In parallel, Pușcaș also controls Florisal SA, the sanitation company in the municipality of Satu Mare.

Contracts with the state

The company Drusal has over 20 contracts for sanitation in the Ardealului area, the most consistent with Baia Mare City Hall from Cătălin Cherecheș, former mayor sentenced to 5 years in prison for taking bribes.

In December 2021, Drusal, controlled by Sile Pușcaș, paralyzed the city of Baia Mare through a garbage crisis, for two weeks, stops the garbage collection. The City Hall led by Cherecheș had debts of over 25 million lei for unpaid services. The crisis only tempered after partial payments and the intervention of the County Council.

41.72 million lei, about 8 million euros, total four contracts on sanitation with the Baia Mare City Hall (2009, 2018, 2019, 2024), according to SEAP.

Puscaș: “If you vote with someone, you cannot help but support it mentally, morally”

Contacted by Snoop, Vasile Pușcaș acknowledged that the Golden Party was accommodated in Platinia facilities.

“The truth is that they (gold, no) stayed longer, and with the party … They stayed with us that we are doing our job very profit on the side of restaurants, accommodation, hotels. It is a big competition on the market, any customer is welcome,” Pușcaș told SNOOOop.

He said he supports George Simion “morally”, but he does not want to enter politics and is not a party member.

“But I liked many of his ideas. (…) Now, you realize, if you vote with someone, you can't help but support him, morally, you feel good that you vote with that man, in that direction,” he says for Snoop.

• Pușcaș has no kinship with Vasile Pușcaș, 72 years old, well known, former minister and considered part of the “Cluj Group”, together with Ioan Rus and Vasile Dîncu.
