Gopo Awards 2026 Race: Anniversary Edition Nominations

The Association for the Promotion of Romanian Film announces the nominees for the 2026 Gopo Awards. 124 Romanian films – fiction feature films, documentaries and short films – released in 2025 in cinemas, at national and international festivals or on streaming platforms have passed through the filter of two juries. The nominees now enter the race for trophies. The winners will be announced on May 4, at the Anniversary Gala, which celebrates the 20th edition of the Gopo Awards.

Five films officially enter the competition for the trophy in the most coveted category of the Gopo Awards – Best Feature Film: Comatogenic (dir. Igor Cobileanski), Milk teeth (dir. Mihai Mincan), Continental '25 (r. Radu Jude), don't let me die (dir. Andrei Epure) and the documentary Father (r. Lina Vdovîi, Radu Ciorniciuc).

Milk teeth

Milk teeth leads the list of the most nominated films, appearing in 12 award categories. It's coming don't let me die (9 nominations) and Yellow tie (8 nominations). The productions Comatogenic and Continental '25 they are both nominated in 7 award categories.

To the category Best direction are nominated Igor Cobileanski for comatose, Mihai Mincan for milk teeth, Hello Jude for the movie Continental '25, Andrei Epure for don't let me die and Tudor Giurgiu for The spruce forest.

In the race for the trophy Best Actress in a Leading Role enter: Daniela Nane for the role of Alina Zlotdin comatose, Ilinca Hărnut for the role of Lena in the film ink wash, Esther Tompa for the role of Orsolya in Continental '25, Cosmina Stratan for the interpretation of Maria Laurintdin don't let me die and Coke Bloos for the role of Minodoradin The spruce forest.

Best Actor in a Leading Role will be decided between Daniel Popa for the role of Gabriel Vânătoru in the film classified, Andrei Aradits for the role of Pavel from comatose, Ben Schnetzer for the interpretation of the young Sergiu Celibidache FROM Yellow tie and Mircea Andreescu for the role of Gheorghe Holovati from The spruce forest.

Category Best Documentary Film includes the following titles: CALIU: Nothing else, what else can I do (r. Simona Constantin), Little Syria (dir. Mădălina Roșca, Reem Karssli), Father (r. Lina Vdovîi, Radu Ciorniciuc), TWST / Things We Said Today (r. Andrei Ujică) and Bright Future (dir. Andra MacMasters).

Comatogenic

Best Debut Film will be voted among the productions: Ranking (r. Horia Cucută, George ve Gänæaard), Ink Wash (dir. Sarra Tsorakidis), don't let me die (r. Andrei Epure), Father (r. Lina Vdovîi) and Bright future (dir. Andra MacMasters).

In the following period, over 700 professionals active in all areas of the domestic film industry will be invited to vote for the designation of the winners of the Gopo 2026 trophies. The voting mechanism is provided by the prestigious auditing and consulting firm PwC Romania, partner of the Gopo Awards since 2011. The juries that determined the nominations

The Gopo Awards have two preselection juries, one for the feature film category and one for the documentary and short film categories. In 2026, Jury for feature films was made up, as before, of 11 film professionals: film critics Irina Margareta Nistor, Alin Ludu Dumbrava, Andrei Sendreathe directors Bogdan Muresanu and Andrei Tanasethe actress Elvira Deatcuthe film producer Oana Iancuthe director of photography Alexander Sterianthe fitter Eugene Kelementhe scenographer Cristian Niculescu and the costume designer Dana Angel.
