The president of the UDMR, Kelemen Hunor, reacted on Monday after recent attacks on foreign workers and asked the parties to clearly delimit gold and “extremist politicians”: “Violence does not take place in society and should never be tolerated.”
“We condemn any form of verbal and physical violence. In the last days, foreign workers have been attacked-people who want to work honestly and perform tasks that no one else does. Violence takes place in society and should never be tolerated,” wrote Kelemen Hunor.
The UDMR leader stressed that the responsibility for such incidents is not only for the aggressors, but also to the politicians who “incite for years to hatred against the minority communities.”
“The political class has to distance themselves once and forever and extremist politicians. I know that the situation in the country is difficult at this time, but populism is never the solution, and the challenge is never the remedy,” Kelemen Hunor said.

Extremist messages and official reactions
The aggression in the Capital took place a few days after the deputy gold Dan Tanasa published on Facebook a viral message urging Romanians to refuse the orders delivered by foreign couriers: “Refuse the order if it is not delivered by a Romanian. Do not encourage the import of unskilled workers from Asia and Africa!” The post has attracted criticisms and official notifications: the policeman Marian Godina filed a criminal complaint for “inciting violence, hatred or discrimination”, and CNCD has been self -saved.
The general mayor of the capital, Nicușor Dan, condemned the attack, drawing attention to the role of extremist discourses: “In recent weeks, voices that instigate against foreigners have been propagated in the public space. And the words have real, sometimes dramatic consequences.
