The CCR is debating the AUR referrals on the budget laws today

AUR appealed to the Constitutional Court the budget laws for the year 2026, citing “deeply flawed normative acts” and “serious violations of the Constitution”.

The AUR notifications regarding the state budget laws, as well as the state social security budget law, adopted in the joint session of the Parliament on March 20, 2026, will be debated on Thursday by the CCR.

“These laws were adopted in flagrant violation of the principles of the rule of law, through an accelerated procedure that blocked the real debate in Parliament and reduced the role of the legislature to a simple formality of validating the decisions of the governing coalition”, according to AUR.

The party led by George Simion accuses that the budget was adopted “in just a few days, without a serious analysis of the impact on the economy and on Romanians”.

“A law with a direct impact on millions of citizens cannot be adopted in a hurry, without transparency and without real consultation, given that this emergency was generated by the Government's delay in presenting the budget”, claims AUR.

The AUR also denounced the “unrealistic foundation of the budget, built on optimistic estimates and premises that do not reflect the real economic situation”.

“A central point of the referral is the violation of social rights, especially through the refusal to index pensions according to the law, a decision that affects millions of pensioners and violates the constitutional principles regarding social protection and legislative predictability”, the AUR also transmitted.

AUR asks the Constitutional Court to stop the entry into force of “deeply flawed laws and to sanction the slippages of a government that legislates against its own citizens”.
