Metrorex decided on Saturday to increase the price of a subway trip from 5 to 7 lei, company sources told HotNews. The information was confirmed by the Minister of Transport, Ciprian Şerban.
The increase in the prices of metro trips, from May 1, was decided by the Board of Directors of Metrorex. The Minister of Transport, Ciprian Şerban, confirmed the information to HotNews on Saturday evening.
Later, contacted by Mediafax, the Minister of Transport said: “It is a proposal of the Metrorex CA. We will analyze whether this measure is sustainable.”

The last increase in the price of metro trips was in January 2025. Then, the cost of a trip increased from 3 lei to 5 lei, and a card with 10 trips increased from 25 to 40 lei. The subscription for 24 hours increased to 12 lei, compared to 8 lei at that time, the one for 72 hours increased from 20 to 35 lei, the weekly subscription reached 45 lei, from 35 lei, the monthly subscription – 100 lei, from 80 lei, the subscription for 6 months – 500 lei, from 400, and the one for a year 900 lei, from 700 lei.
