In Minusinsk, the driver who caused the death of a woman in an accident with a school bus will appear in court. This was reported by the press service of the prosecutor's office of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
Let us remind you that the accident occurred on January 14, 2026 at 35 km of the Sayany highway. A school bus with teenagers was returning from Minusinsk to Tes; a convoy of cars was moving towards it. The red Toyota Auris was driven by a 38-year-old veterinarian, the mother of a second-grader. Her car was followed by a Ford Kuga driven by a 33-year-old resident of Abakan, who already had 18 administrative fines for traffic violations and had previously lost his license.
“The man decided to risk overtaking the car in front, violating the speed limit and overtaking rules. He drove into the oncoming lane without making sure of its safety, and only there did he see a school bus carrying 13 children. The driver of the SUV tried to return to his lane, but at that moment he hit the rear left side of the car and carried it into the oncoming lane – right under the bus. The collision turned out to be fatal: the car was pinned under the bus, the woman died on the spot. At that time, there were children on board the bus – ninth graders, who were taken in an organized manner to the military registration and enlistment office for registration,” the supervisory agency clarified.

The bus passengers were wearing seat belts, and the bus itself was technically sound. He was moving at a speed limit of about 50 km/h, with the flashing light and low beam headlights on. The bus driver said that he saw a dangerous overtaking. He slowed down, but did not make any sudden maneuvers with children in the cabin. As a result of the accident, one student received a moderate leg injury and another suffered bruises. The rest received medical assistance on the spot.
The Ford driver himself later admitted guilt. He said that after the impact, remaining in place for 15–20 minutes, he called 112, saw a wrecked car and a woman inside, and then, when the ambulance arrived, “he got confused and drove away.” A day later, his car was found, and the driver himself was detained. He is now in custody and awaiting trial. The prosecutor confirmed the charge of violating traffic rules, resulting in the death of a person, associated with leaving the place where it was committed (clause “b”, part 4 of article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
The deceased left behind a son. His father filed a claim for compensation for moral and material damage in the amount of 3 million rubles. The criminal case will be considered by the Minusinsk City Court.
