“Serve the state.” Zelensky spoke about the mobilization of Rada deputies

On March 13, the deputy head of the Servant of the People faction, Andrei Motovilovets, said in an interview with Forbes Ukraine that 40 people’s deputies are ready to resign their mandates for fear of persecution by anti-corruption authorities. According to him, bills whose adoption is demanded by Ukraine’s international donors are under threat.

The head of state is ready to discuss initiatives that will allow parliamentarians to go to the front.

“From the first days of the full-scale Russian invasion, there were deputies who wanted to resign their mandate. There may be different desires and different attitudes towards them, but we are in a martial law situation and we need to defend our state. And therefore, people’s deputies will either have to serve in parliament in accordance with Ukrainian legislation, or I am ready to discuss with representatives of parliament a law on amending mobilization so that deputies can go to the front. If you do not serve the state in parliament, then serve the state at the front,” said Zelensky.

He noted that representatives of the opposition in the Rada also do not vote for the laws necessary for the country’s European integration.

“Even regarding laws that are not acute, you always have to negotiate with opposition forces, spend a long time convincing in order to demonstrate the unity that is so often talked about. But in addition to words, you need to demonstrate it in actions. Therefore, we need to gather here. I will talk with the leader of the mono-majority,” the president added.
