President Nicușor Dan thanked Donald Trump for organizing the first summit of the Peace Council and “for the peace plan for Gaza”. The president explained that the meeting in Washington is an important one and announced that Romania can help rebuild schools and reform systems such as public administration and police in Gaza. The Romanian president's speech lasted about two minutes.

Why did Nicușor Dan go to Washington
President Nicușor Dan suggested that the reason for his presence in Washington is mainly to strengthen the relationship with the Trump administration.
“There were certain doubts, mistrust after the canceled elections of 2024 on the part of the American administration. Against all this context, I think that the presence of Romania through its president helps to clarify diplomatically and to the citizens what is the true relationship between Romania and the USA”, said Nicușor Dan the other day, in an interview granted to Radio România Actualității.
Romania, through President Nicușor Dan, will participate as an observer at the first meeting of the Peace Council, which will take place in Washington on February 19. On the RRA show, he emphasized that he has no bilateral meeting planned with Trump.
“It's a first working meeting. After receiving the invitation to participate in this meeting, we requested other types of clarifications to see what a state that is not a member can do, but it resonates with the direction it wants to go”, Nicușor Dan explained the decision to confirm the invitation.
