The costs of the first round of voting for the head of state at the CEC are estimated at 4-5 billion hryvnia, for the second – 6.5-7 billion hryvnia, and the commission also takes into account related expenses.
Dubovik pointed out that the presidential campaign costs about one and a half times more than the parliamentary one. The last presidential elections in 2019, according to the Central Election Commission, cost the budget approximately 2 billion hryvnia.
Dubovik explains the rise in price by inflation and new conditions. About 70% of all expenses fall on the salaries of members of district, precinct and territorial election commissions. To these are added the costs of local governments for the preparation of polling stations and commissions. If the number of voting places abroad is sharply increased, this will also entail foreign exchange costs.
“Taking into account the expenses of local governments, if we are talking about all three types of elections [президента, парламента и местных властей]this is approximately 20 billion hryvnia. This is a conditional figure, but it is live – and this is no less,” summed up the deputy head of the Central Election Commission.
