The CFR Cluj club was fined 20,000 lei by the gendarmes, and the security and protection company was fined 15,000 lei, following the incidents that took place at Saturday's match with Cluj University, writes News.ro. The visiting supporters tried to enter the field at the end of the game and the intervention of the gendarmes was needed, who used irritant-tear-producing substances to de-escalate the situation.
The representatives of the Cluj-Napoca Mobile Gendarmerie Group announced, on Sunday, what measures were taken after the incidents at the football match between CFR Cluj and Cluj University.
“At the end of the football match between the teams FCCFR 1907 Cluj – ASFC Universitatea Cluj, held on 07.02.2026, the supporters of the visiting team from the lawn tried to enter the playing surface. In this context, the immediate intervention of the law enforcement was needed, at which time the supporters did not obey the summons, requiring the use of irritant-tear-forming substances to disperse and de-tension the situation”, the gendarmes said.
They stated that they have drawn up four reports to the criminal authorities, three of them for non-compliance with the explosive materials regime and one for violating the law on preventing and combating drug trafficking and consumption.
At the same time, the gendarmes issued seven contraventional sanctions, totaling 37,100 lei.
“Among these, two contraventional sanctions, totaling 20,000 lei, were applied to the organizer of the sports event, and one contraventional sanction, worth 15,000 lei, was applied to the specialized security and protection company, for non-compliance with their obligations.
Also, 4 complementary sanctions were applied regarding the prohibition of access to sports competitions for a period of six months or one year, the gendarmes said.
The CFR Cluj team defeated the Universitatea Cluj team 3-2 on Saturday evening, at home, in the 26th stage of the Super League, a match marked by incidents at the end.
Immediately after the referee Rareş Vidican blew the whistle for the end of the match in Gruia, the technician Cristiano Bergodi jumped into the fight with Andrei Cordea, then went to Muhar, on the field breaking out a real scandal.
The tensions continued in the stands, where the supporters of “U” Cluj tried to break the fences and enter the field. In the end, they were calmed down by the gendarmes, and things did not degenerate.
