The Salrom management was dismissed. Minister Radu Miruță: “The joke is over”

The government decided to dismiss the management of the National Salt Company (Salrom) after the Prime Minister's Control Body found serious deficiencies in the management of the situation at Salina Praid, where flood risks were underestimated and ignored by those in charge.

The management of the National Salt Company (SNS SA – Salrom) was dismissed, following the conclusions drawn by the Prime Minister's Control Body (CCPM), which completed the checks carried out at Salrom and the “Romanian Waters” National Administration (ANAR). The control was triggered after the flooding of Salina Praid, produced in May 2025, an incident that affected the economic activity and generated significant losses.
According to the report drawn up by the CCPM, the risk of flooding the underground spaces of the salt pan and affecting the salt deposit was constantly underestimated by the Salrom management. Company representatives mistakenly believed that there was no imminent danger, although technical signals and internal warnings indicated otherwise.
The control document shows that the lack of a proper risk assessment, as well as deficiencies in the monitoring and maintenance of the drainage systems, contributed to the worsening of the situation that led to the flooding of the gallery.
The dismissal decision comes in the context in which the government authorities are analyzing additional measures to restructure the company and to implement a prevention plan aimed at avoiding the repetition of such incidents.
