Secret operations in Russia. Ukrainian Alfa reveals fragments of the action

The recordings presented by the Ukrainian army leave no doubt as to its lethal effectiveness elite Alpha unitwhich has been fighting Russian aggression since it began in 2014. Compilations showing the effects of its operations clearly show that Alfa is currently one of the most effective formations in Kiev's forces, and its versatility means that the Ukrainian command can use it in many different ways. However, these are also forces that have a rather controversial chapter in their history, related to, among others, with the events on Maidan in 2014
A controversial past
The Alpha unit was created by the Ukrainian authorities in 1994 and until the Russian invasion in 2014, it was mainly engaged in anti-terrorist activities, also operating abroad, e.g. in 2004, its operators were assigned the mission to protect the Ukrainian consulate in Baghdad. When there was a change of power in Ukraine in the spring of 2014 as a result of the events on the Maidan, Alfa underwent a major reorganization. The reason was, among others, the charge of shooting at people who participated in the demonstrations.
Some of the officers were dismissed, some of them left Alfa themselves. For example, Aleksander Chodakowski joined the Russians and later received the position of Minister of Security in the so-called Donetsk People's Republic, a puppet state established in 2014 by pro-Russian forces in eastern Ukraine.

Today, however, it is difficult to talk about the Alfa unit in anything other than superlatives. Its operators have been actively fighting against Russian forces since 2014, first in the occupied Donbas, and from 2022 also on other sections of the front. They have also completed a number of successful operations, including the takeover of the strategically important airport in Kramatorsk in 2014.
The unit also participated in combat practically from the first days of the 2022 invasion.among others near Kiev. It also participated in the Battle of Kharkov, bloody clashes for control of Bakhmut and Avdiivka. It was also sent to support the Ukrainian offensive near Kursk and the defense of Snake Island. Alpha was also involved in Operation Spider's Web, as a result of which Russia suffered huge losses in its air forces.
The doom of Russian aviation
Currently, Alfa, as befits special forces, helps in the fight against Putin's forces in various ways, e.g. through sniper operations, eliminating high-ranking people in the Russian army, rescuing hostages, carrying out various types of special operations (also deep in enemy territory) or conducting reconnaissance and reconnaissance activities.
The unit itself also boasts that every sixth tank destroyed in Russia is due to its operatorsand we can see the effectiveness of their work in the recording that has just appeared on social media. We watch attacks on Russian planes and helicopters, often located deep behind the front line, carried out in 2025.
In recent months alone, the group has destroyed 15 Kremlin planes worth over a billion dollars. This list included, among others: one of the most important aircraft of Russia in the context of attacking Ukraine, currently the fastest military aircraft in the world, MiG-31. It may not be a new design (it entered service in 1981), and it performs poorly in direct air combat, but it has other advantages.
The MiG-31 is a real speed demon, flying at a speed of 3,000 km per hour. and has a very high flight ceiling of up to 25 km. These parameters result from the fact that we are talking about an interceptor aircraft whose main task was to destroy American bombers.

Russia uses this design to attack Ukraine with Kindzhal cruise missiles. The MiG-31 also poses a significant threat to Ukrainian MiG-29, Su-27, as well as F-16 and Mirage 2000 fighters, as it can hunt them from a very long distance, using missiles with a range of up to several hundred kilometers. The destruction or serious damage of any such machine is therefore excellent news for the Ukrainian military.
The list of aircraft destroyed by the Alfa unit in 2025 also includes the Su-34 bomber, another extremely important Russian machine in the context of the war in Ukraine. The Sukhoi Su-34 (codenamed Fullback in NATO) is a twin-engine, two-seater combat aircraft that can operate as a bomber or attack aircraft. The design was largely based on the Su-27 fighter, although you only need to look at the front of the machine to notice significant differences. In the Su-34, pilots sit next to each other in a completely redesigned cockpit built with high crew comfort in mind.

The Su-34 flies at an altitude of 17 km and accelerates to a speed of 1,900 km per hour. and has a wide range of up to 4,000. km, which can be further increased by air refueling. The plane also withstands overloads of over 9 g, so it can easily perform extreme flight maneuvers at high speeds. And it can carry as much as 14 tons of various weapons, including: long-range cruise missiles.
Losses counted in billions of dollars
The Alpha unit inflicted even greater losses on the Russian anti-aircraft forces. In the recording published a few days ago, we see the real massacre that Alfa carried out in 2025. The Ukrainian formation has destroyed the S-300, S-350, S-400 systems, as well as the Buk-M1, Buk-M2, Pantsyr-S1, Pancy-S2, Tor-M1, Tor-M2 and Tor-M3 systems, as well as a whole range of valuable radar stations and other battery components anti-aircraft.
In total, we are talking about attacks as a result of which the Russians lost equipment worth at least $4 billion.however, it is worth remembering that these types of impacts also have another, extremely important dimension.
The commentary to the recording reads:
This type of work (…) has created corridors in the Russians' multi-layered air defense, creating safe routes for drones to strike deep behind the front lines at enemy bases, ammunition depots and airfields.
Why is the Ukrainian unit so deadly?
The impressive effectiveness of special units like the Alfa group is due to several factors. Firstly, this type of formations serves the country's military elite, the most talented, best trained and carefully selected group of soldiers. Secondly, such forces often use innovative and sometimes even experimental equipment, as you can read about, for example, in the material about the mysterious weapon allegedly used to capture President Maduro.
It is no different in the case of the Alpha formation. On its official website it boasts of the use of new types of weaponsincluding various types of drones, thanks to which it “always stays one step ahead of the enemy” and “actually changes the course of the war.” And considering how quickly Ukraine is developing its drone capabilities, in 2026 the Alpha unit should become an even greater threat to the Russian army.
