Context
Trump has repeatedly stated that he has “It's always been a great relationship” with Putin. But after he failed to quickly reach a peace agreement to resolve the Russian-Ukrainian war, the US president began to say he was disappointed with Putin.
The meeting between Trump and Putin at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska took place on August 15, 2025. The negotiations lasted approximately three hours. Putin was greeted with a red carpet in Alaska.
