Two high-speed trains derailed on Sunday evening in Adamuz, in the province of Córdoba in Andalusia, southern Spain. The state manager of railway infrastructure, Adif, reported that the disaster occurred around 7:45 p.m. on Sunday.

317 people traveled from Malaga to Madrid by Iryo's train. The last carriages of the train went off the rails in Adamuz, in the province of Córdoba, onto an adjacent track where another train, belonging to the carrier Renfe, was traveling from Madrid to Huelva – and which also derailed as a result.
At least 21 people died in the disaster and several dozen were injured, including five in a serious condition. According to the head of the regional health ministry, Antonio Sanz, the situation is very serious and the number of victims may increase. The causes of the accident are still under investigation.
