Before the visit, Nowak informed that he was going to Berlin as a private person and he received the invitation before the presidential elections in Poland. The media reported that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advised him against attending the meeting. Meanwhile, AfD introduced him as a “historian and advisor to the President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki”, which could have given the event a political character.
