Karol Nawrocki's advisor visits the AfD. There is a comment from the PiS president


On Wednesday, prof. Nowak took part in a lecture and discussion in the German parliament. Three AfD MPs were present: Goetz Froemming, Alexander Wolf and Adam Balten, a politician with Polish roots. During the event, the professor warned against “imperialism at the expense of the weaker.”

Before the visit, Nowak informed that he was going to Berlin as a private person and he received the invitation before the presidential elections in Poland. The media reported that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advised him against attending the meeting. Meanwhile, AfD introduced him as a “historian and advisor to the President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki”, which could have given the event a political character.

During a press conference regarding the planned PiS demonstration against illegal migration and the Mercosur agreement, Kaczyński recalled the words of prof. Nowak, who talked about “an appeal to common sense” as the common denominator of some European political formations in opposition to “left-wing, crazy ideologies”.

When asked about the change in position towards the AfD — after last June he rejected the possibility of cooperation with this party – the PiS leader emphasized that his words remain valid.
— There is no way we would cooperate with those who wonder which SS men were honest and which were not. They were all criminals – he recalled.
At the same time, he emphasized the difference between a political alliance and dialogue.
— The AfD has views that we absolutely cannot agree with, but in general we need to talk – he said.
Kaczyński defended the participation of the president's adviser in the discussion, emphasizing his scientific position.
— Prof. Nowak is a very outstanding historian, not a politician, so his conversation was certainly useful – he assessed.
He drew attention to the importance of dialogue between nations, even in situations of historical tension.
— Politics in the strict sense should not be confused with dialogue between states. Where there is no dialogue, the risk of tragic events and references to the worst moments of history increases, he said.

Kaczyński also referred to the growing support of AfD in Germany. Currently, the party is isolated by the main groups that accuse it of radicalism, right-wing populism and contacts with Russia. Despite this, the AfD won 20.8 percent in the last parliamentary elections. votes, and in some polls he is already the leader.
— If AfD wins the future elections in Germany, it will become a potential partner of Poland and we will have to talk to them – said the PiS leader.
— A visit by a Polish outstanding intellectual and a conversation with a difficult political partner, but a partner in discussion, may bring some positive results, he added.
