The Capital Gendarmerie announced on Friday the sanction received by the man on a motorcycle who, during the Thursday evening protest in University Square, projected the message “March to Moscow” with a laser on a building.

“In the context of the public meeting on 15.01.2025, from the University Square, during the movement of the demonstrators, a man projected a message on a building, arousing the indignation of the other participants in the public meeting. At the same time, for the protection of the person in question and the other participants in the demonstration, the intervention of the gendarmes was needed,” the Bucharest Gendarmerie reported on Friday.

The man in question was fined 1,000 lei for “inciting by any means, initiating or resorting to violent actions or other manifestations, with the intention of thwarting or disturbing, in any way, public gatherings”, the gendarmes state.

The message “March to Moscow” was displayed, on Thursday evening, on the buildings in University Square during the protest supported by AUR against the “Vexler law”.

According to a video that appeared on social media, the man can be seen stopping his motorcycle on Regina Elisabeta Boulevard, taking out a projector and projecting the message on the facade of a building in University Square.

After the man projected the message some of the protesters booed him and wanted to come towards him, but were prevented by the gendarmes.

Several thousand people gathered in the University Square on Thursday evening to protest against the “Vexler law” regarding the fight against extremism, in a demonstration organized by MEP Claudiu Târziu and supported by AUR, the party of which Târziu was a member until last year.
