The Openai CEO, Sam Altman, rejected the statements of Elon Musk on Friday, who warned that the partnership between Openai and Microsoft could endanger the US company in Redmond, Microsoft, Reuters reports, according to news.ro.
The reaction comes after Microsoft has announced the integration of the new GPT-5 version in its products, including Microsoft 365 co-pilot, Github co-pilot and Azure of Foundry.
Musk immediately reacted to X (former Twitter), writing: “Openai will eat Microsoft alive.”
The Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella, preferred a conciliatory tone: “People have been trying for 50 years and this is the beautiful part! Every day you learn something new, you innovate and compete.”
Nadella also congratulated the Grok 4 chatbot, developed by Musk, mentioning that it is already available in limited version on Azure.
Asked about Musk's comments, Altman told CNBC on Friday: “You know, I don't think much about him. I have the impression that he is just sitting all day and writes how Openai is awful, how our models are bad and how we are not a serious company.”
The rivalry between the two dates back to 2015, when they co -founded Openai as a non -profit laboratory in the field of artificial intelligence. Later, Altman transformed the project into a profit-oriented company, massively supported by Microsoft, which was dissatisfied with Musk.
He sued the company, a process that was subsequently withdrawn, accusing a deviation from the initial mission.
In another tense episode, Musk led a consortium that offered $ 97.4 billion to take control of the Openai parent organization. Altman's answer?
“No, thank you, but if you want, we can buy Twitter with 9.74 billion.”
Openai has so far refused to comment on the dispute, but Altman suggested that Musk's proposal would have been an attempt to “slow a competitor.”
