Justice Minister Waldemar Żurek said on Wednesday that he does not rule out filing a complaint against Hungary to the Court of Justice of the EU in connection with granting asylum to Zbigniew Ziobro. However, as he stipulated, he first wants to see a document that would certify that Ziobro actually received asylum.

– A country grants political asylum to an EU citizen, which means it assumes that there are countries that are undemocratic. Unfortunately, this is the country that has the biggest problems with the rule of law, Vladimir Putin's closest ally in Europe today, which, in my opinion, wants to blow up Europe from the inside, Żurek told journalists in Brussels.
– We will have to look at it from a legal point of view, but so far we have not received any document, so it is not known whether former Minister (of Justice Zbigniew) Ziobro, against whom the prosecutor's office wants to bring a huge list of criminal charges, actually received this asylum – he emphasized.
– This is an amazing practice. Neither the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs nor the Polish prosecutor's office have seen such documents, noted the Minister of Justice.
– We want to see the document. We may have to take legal action and consider whether the Court of Justice of the European Union should consider this, he added.
– If the practice becomes such that subsequent countries within the Union will grant asylum (…) to EU citizens (citizens – PAP), the common legal space will disappear. The European Arrest Warrant will become a fiction – added Żurek. (PAP)
