I fry shrimp, and my husband sweeps away every last crumb: the crunch is so loud that you can hear it in the neighbors’ kitchen

If you want to have a mini-holiday without the tedious cooking, prepare homemade crispy-breaded shrimp. This is not fast food, but a rich dish with a golden crust that is prepared quickly and easily.

Ingredients:

Peeled shrimp – 300 g
Corn flakes – 1 cup
Egg – 1 pc.
Lemon – 1/2 pcs.
Garlic – 2 cloves
Salt, black pepper, paprika – a pinch
Vegetable oil – for frying

How to cook:

  • Rinse the shrimp, dry with a paper towel, lightly salt and pepper.
  • Grind corn flakes into crumbs.
  • Beat the egg with chopped garlic and a pinch of paprika.
  • Dip each shrimp first into the egg mixture, then roll in the corn crumbs.
  • Heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the shrimp for 1.5–2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Place on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
  • Serve immediately, garnished with lemon wedges.

Bon appetit!

Question and answer:

Do I need to defrost shrimp before cooking?
Yes. It's best to defrost them in the refrigerator 4-6 hours in advance or at room temperature 30 minutes in advance.

Why do shrimp become rubbery?
Due to overcooking. The shrimp cook very quickly, 1.5–2 minutes on each side. Once they have curled into a “C” and become opaque, it is time to remove them. Even in a hot frying pan they continue to cook.
