The head of the Hungarian energy company MOL, Zsolt Hernadi, will go to Moscow to negotiate with the Russians on the import of crude oil via the Druzhba pipeline, said on Friday the leader of the Hungarian TISHA party, Peter Magyar, who is to become the country's new prime minister in the first half of May.

After Thursday's conversation with Hernadi, on Friday Magyar announced that the Druzhba oil pipeline, which carries oil imported from Russia through Ukraine to Slovakia and Hungary, may be restarted next week. The pipeline was damaged in January after a Russian attack.
Magyar, quoted by 24.hu, said that the head of MOL will soon go to Moscow, where he will talk to the Russians about gas supplies, because “merely restoring the pipeline's operation is not enough.”
Hungary is significantly dependent on oil and gas imports from Russia. In 2025, over 8.5 million tons of oil and over 7 billion cubic meters were imported from this direction. natural gas.
Tisza's leader also emphasized that there would be no problems with deliveries from the Adriatic pipeline running through Croatia, and the supplies of diesel and gasoline would be assured. He added that the new government will maintain the fuel price cap introduced by Viktor Orban's government in the coming months.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday during his visit to Germany that the Druzhba pipeline will be operational by the end of April. Orban's government accused Kiev of delaying the resumption of infrastructure operations for political reasons, therefore blocking the EU loan to Ukraine in the amount of EUR 90 billion. (PAP)
