The day before it became known that investigators were unable to interrogate one of the ex-wives and teenage son of Sergei Usoltsev. This was reported to TASS by Yana Syrymbetova, Deputy Head of the First Directorate for Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee for the Territory:

“The victims in the case of the missing Usoltsev family are considered to be Irina Usoltseva’s son from her first marriage and Sergei Usoltsev’s two daughters from his first marriage. All of them were interrogated. <...> Sergei Usoltsev had a second marriage, in which a son was born. They are abroad, their exact location is unknown, and their contacts are also missing, and therefore it was not possible to interrogate them.”

According to the investigation, there were no conflicts between Irina and Sergei Usoltsev.

Previously, it was established that on September 27, 2025, 64-year-old Sergei and 48-year-old Irina, together with their 5-year-old daughter, arrived by car from Zheleznogorsk to the village of Kuturchin to go hiking as part of a tourist group in the direction of Kuturchinsky Belogorye. Due to an unfavorable weather forecast, the group did not gather, but on September 28 at noon the Usoltsev family set out on their own, informing the base employee of their route – to Mount Buratinka and back. On September 28, they were seen by female tourists approaching the mountain. On September 29, a colleague wrote to Irina Usoltseva’s adult son and reported that she had not gone to work and that the family was going on vacation to the Partizansky district. On September 30, the young man filed a complaint with law enforcement agencies.

The large-scale search for the family went on for a long time in difficult weather conditions and at the maximum capabilities of the operational services and volunteers; in mid-October, the active phase was completed. In November they resumed, but did not produce results.
