The head of the White House said that he watched the video of the events and called it a “terrible spectacle.”
“The woman who screamed was obviously a professional provocateur, and the woman driving was extremely unruly, obstructed and resisted before cruelly, willfully and viciously running over the ICE officer who apparently shot her in self-defense,” Trump wrote.
He posted a video of the incident, filmed from an angle from which what was happening is poorly visible (although there is a much better and more complete video, which shows that a woman in a car tried to get away from people in uniform, and they opened fire).
Trump says his video makes it “hard to believe” the ICE officer is alive and says he is “recovering in the hospital” (another video suggests he was not seriously injured).
“The situation is being fully reviewed, but the reason for these incidents is because the radical left threatens, attacks and harasses our law enforcement officers and Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents every day. They are simply trying to do their job of keeping America safe,” Trump said.
He also called on Americans to “support and protect” law enforcement officers “from this radical leftist movement of violence and hatred.”
