The US wants to take over Greenland. “The use of armed forces is always an option.”


The island, located in the northern part of the Atlantic Ocean, has the status of an autonomous territory of Denmark.

European leaders pay attention to Greenland's sovereignty
The U.S. announced its announcement quickly, including: leaders of France, Germany, Great Britain and Poland. On Tuesday, they issued a joint statement with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen. “Greenland belongs to its people,” wrote European leaders and stressed the need to respect international law. They also assert that Arctic security is a priority for NATO, of which both the United States and Greenland are members.

Donald Trump says he needs Greenland
“President Trump has made it clear that capturing Greenland is a U.S. national security priority,” Karoline Leavitt said in a statement.
The US President himself had previously commented on the issue of Greenland. “We need Greenland. We need it to defend us,” Donald Trump said on Sunday in an interview with The Atlantic. He added that Russian and Chinese ships are circling around Greenland and Denmark is unable to ensure the safety of the island. “I can tell you that in order to increase security in Greenland, they brought another dog sled,” the US president sneered. He also added that the takeover of the island by the United States is also in the interest of the European Union.
