For years, Jan Kulczyk was the richest Pole. However, there were numerous controversies around the investor. In the “Resort Children” program broadcast in June 2023 by TVP, it was said that Kulczyk was to “get a good state”. Children of the billionaire demand an apology and compensation.

The roots of many today's fortunes in Poland date back to the 1980s and 1990s. It was no different in the case of Jan Kulczyk, who received the first capital to start business from his father. In the early 1980s, he founded one of the first joint venture companies in Poland, and in 1982, after changes in legal regulations, the Polish community commercial company Interkulpol.
In 1988, Jan Kulczyk became the official Volkswagen dealer in Poland, while the first great interest of Kulczyk in the Third Polish Republic was in 1991 the delivery of cars for the police and UOP. The Ministry of the Interior ordered by Andrzej Milczanowski ordered 3,000 cars for PLN 150 million without an open tender at Kulczyk.
Then the hills went. But there was numerous controversy whether on Orlen or Ciech.
Hajdasz: Kulczyk was supposed to be a good country
In June 2023, as part of the TVP “Resort Children” program, the episode “From TW Paweł to Kulczyk Holding” was broadcast. According to the children (Dominika and Sebastian), the program of the deceased billionaire violated the good name of their father Jan Kulczyk.
The program was given to the words of Jolanta Hajdasz, who stated that Jan Kulczyk had to “get a good state” in his business activities. In turn, Artur Bartoszewicz referred to the NIK report from 2018, pointing to irregularities in the privatization of Ciech. In his opinion, Kulczyk's business activity could raise doubts.
The defendants, including TVP, Dorota Kania, Michał Adamczyk, Jolanta Hajdasz and Artur Bartoszewicz, disagree with the allegations. They emphasize that the program was created in accordance with the principles of reliable journalism. As they argue, materials from the archives of the Institute of National Remembrance, the National Prosecutor's Office and NIK reports were used.
In turn, the Kulczyk people demand public apologies and a total of 400,000. PLN compensation. This amount covers 200,000 PLN from Dorota Kania, Michał Adamczyk and TVP and 100,000 each. PLN from experts: Jolanta Hajdasz and Artur Bartoszewicz.
The case in October 2025 will be dealt with by the Warsaw District Court.
