CNN Analyst: The US operation in Venezuela has been carried out with impressive speed and precision, possibly involving special forces

The operation carried out by the United States in Venezuela on the night of Friday to Saturday appears to have taken place with “impressive speed” and a high level of precision, most likely with the involvement of special forces, according to a specialist in munitions and military intelligence quoted by CNN.

NR Jenzen-Jones, director of research firm Armament Research Services, told CNN that, at first glance, the American intervention indicates an advanced level of coordination and execution.
“The operation appears, at first sight, to have been carried out with impressive speed and precision,” Jensen-Jones said.
According to him, several indicators quickly suggested that it was a raid carried out with the support of special forces.
“The combination of visible aircraft, the known presence of certain US vessels, and the nature and volume of attacks reported in images circulating online immediately suggested that a Special Forces (SOF) raid was underway,” the analyst explained.
The operation would have involved a significant number of air assets.
“In addition to at least a dozen helicopters, the operation was likely supported by a robust air package comprising both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, including specialist aircraft”Jenzen-Jones also said.
Although such an intervention would have required extensive planning, the data available to date indicate a limited number of targets.
The analyst pointed out that Venezuela has, in theory, solid air defense systems and well-distributed military and paramilitary forces, especially in the area of the capital Caracas, which would have made such an operation extremely difficult.
“A raid of this type would have been difficult to pull off with the speed and precision demonstrated here,” Jenzen-Jones pointed out.
However, he stated that the real effectiveness of the Venezuelan forces is diminished by several factors.
“In practice, corruption, poor training, lack of maintenance and other factors significantly reduce this threat”added the specialist, referring to the response capacity of the Caracas authorities.
