The forum marks the beginning of practical work within the cooperation memorandum on the Black Sea-Aegean Sea corridor, signed in December 2025 in Brussels, with the support of the European commissioner for sustainable transport and tourism, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, reports BTA, quoted by Agerpres.

The opportunities to finance the projects through European funds or through public-private partnerships will be discussed, as well as how the three countries can jointly request European support, as well as the specific parameters of the projects and the implementation deadlines.

Another theme is overcoming the administrative and procedural obstacles that traditionally delay the implementation of major infrastructure projects. The stage at which the already planned initiatives have reached will be analyzed and practical solutions to problems such as authorization regimes, public procurement, construction standards and interoperability will be sought.

The event that will take place on Friday will be attended by the Deputy Minister of Transport from Greece, Konstantinos Kyranakis, the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Transport from Romania, Ionuţ-Cristian Săvoiu, the coordinator of the European transport corridor Baltic Sea-Black Sea-Aegean Sea, Mario Mauro, the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works from Bulgaria, Ivan Ivanov, the Minister of Defense from Bulgaria, Atanas Zapryanov, as well as representatives of the European Commission and of financial institutions.

Grozdan Karadjov, the acting Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister, is to hold a press conference before the start of the forum.

Romania, Greece and Bulgaria connect the Black Sea to the Aegean Sea through a new European transport corridor

We remind you that on December 3, 2025, at the headquarters of the European Commission, in Brussels, the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on the strengthening of cross-border cooperation within the Platform of the Black Sea-Aegean Sea transport corridor took place.

The event brought together high-level representatives of the line ministries of Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, the European Commission and the European Investment Bank (EIB).

The initiative is part of the new framework of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) and aims to develop a modern, sustainable and interoperable infrastructure, as well as to strengthen regional resilience, necessary to respond to new security challenges and military mobility needs.
