Sonya Kay's real name is Sofia Khlyabich. She is the daughter of the younger sister of the Ukrainian singer Sofia Rotaru Lydia. Debut songs Sonya Kay became the compositions “Rain” and “White Snow”.
On June 7, 2020, the singer married the then 27-year-old Russian hockey player Oleg Petrov, and soon announced that she was leaving the stage.
Sonya Kay did not advertise her pregnancy, nor did she say that she had become a mother. Her relative, Ukrainian singer Aurika Rotaru, announced the addition to the family – Sonya Kay is her niece. On October 11, Aurika Rotaru announced that Sonya Kay gave birth to two boys.
In early December, the Chernigov Regional Perinatal Center Facebook page reported that Sonya Kay was discharged home almost two months after giving birth.
“The family was in the Chernivtsi regional perinatal center for 70 days. The boys were born prematurely with low birth weight,” the report says. “Behind is the neonatal intensive care unit, the post-intensive care unit – hundreds of consultations with the best neonatologists in Ukraine, anxious nights, intense, exhausting days of intensive treatment and nursing.”
