Russian universities will increase the minimum Unified State Exam scores for admission next year

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia has approved new minimum Unified State Examinations, which will be valid for applicants to universities in the 2026/2027 academic year. For a number of subjects, the passing threshold will be increased, notes the Saratov 24 TV channel.

According to the new requirements, school graduates, in order to apply to the university, will need to type:

  • 40 points in Russian language, mathematics (major level), geography and literature (threshold has not changed).
  • 41 points in physics (was 39).
  • 45 points in social studies (the threshold has not changed).
  • 46 points in computer science and ICT (from 44).

The most noticeable growth is expected in history and foreign languages: the minimum score for them increases from 36 to 40 and from 30 to 40 points, respectively. The bar for chemistry and biology will increase slightly – from 39 to 40 points.
