On Wednesday, the Senate held a debate on the budget act for 2026. During the debate, senators proposed several dozen amendments to the act. The amendments submitted included, among others: proposals to allocate funds for a hospital in Radom, for the renovation of a street in Garwolin, for the construction of the Jasło bypass or a hospital in Krosno. Another amendment concerns increasing the budget of the National Labor Inspectorate by PLN 40 million.

As a result, the act was referred back to the Senate Committee on Budget and Public Finance. The vote on the budget bill is to take place during the current session of the Senate.

Earlier, the Budget and Public Finance Committee proposed, among others: transfer of additional funds, approximately PLN 3 million, to the book purchase program by the National Library. Additional funds are to come from the budgets of the Constitutional Tribunal and the National Council of the Judiciary. Another proposed change aims to transfer approximately PLN 5 million to the European Solidarity Center from the budget of, among others, Institute of National Remembrance. Another amendment adopted by the committee assumes that the budget of the president's office would be reduced by PLN 3 million, which would be used to prepare the world scout convention, the so-called Jamboree.

The budget act for next year assumes that state expenditure will amount to PLN 918.9 billion and the budget deficit will amount to PLN 271.7 billion. State budget revenues are planned at PLN 647.2 billion.

The adopted budget law should be sent to the president for signature within 4 months from the date of submitting the bill to the Sejm. If this does not happen, the president may order the shortening of the term of office of the Sejm within 14 days. The Constitution stipulates that the president signs the budget within 7 days or sends the budget act to the Constitutional Tribunal, which must rule on the matter no later than within two months of receiving the act.
