Raffaele Palladino (42 years old) has left the technical bench of Atalanta after reaching an agreement on the termination of the contract due in 2027. The Italian coach will be replaced in the coming days by his compatriot Maurizio Sarri, who left Lazio last month.
The Serie A club announced today, on the official website, the end of the collaboration with Raffaele Palladino. The coach, who left Fiorentina last summer, was the successor of Ivan Juric, who arrived at the beginning of the 2025-2026 season, but who lasted on the Atalanta bench only until November.
Palladino took over the team in a difficult situation, but managed to lift it from the second half of the standings. And in the Champions League, Atalanta was, under his leadership, the Italian team that reached the furthest, being eliminated in the round of 16 by Bayern, and in the Italian Cup it stopped in the semifinals.

Sarri will be officially announced tomorrow as Atalanta's new coach
However, in the last part of the championship, the team from Bergamo gave up the pace and barely got a place in the Conference League, thanks to Inter, who also won the Coppa Italia (2-0 in the final with Lazio), thus promoting the 7th place in Europe.
“Atalanta announces that Raffaele Palladino has been released as first team coach, along with his closest collaborators, namely Stefano Citterio, Federico Peluso, Fabio Corabi, Nicola Riva, Mattia Casella, Andrea Ramponi and Andrea Berti. Atalanta thanks Raffaele Palladino and his team for their dedication and wishes them all the best in the future”, is the official statement published by the Nerazzurri club.
Once the position is freed, the group from Bergamo will appoint Maurizio Sarri (67 years old). He last coached Lazio twice in a row and his only title in Italy was with Juventus (2019-2020).
As manager of Chelsea London, he triumphed in the Europa League (2018-'19) and was in technical charge of Napoli for three seasons, but without achieving any performance.
